Today marks 11 years since Kosovo became a member of the International Organization of La Francophonie, one of the largest international organizations with 77 member states. Former Foreign Minister Enver Hoxhaj recalled this milestone as one of Kosovo’s most significant diplomatic achievements.
“Eleven years ago, we brought Kosovo into the Francophonie, one of the largest international organizations. As Foreign Minister, I led this process with months of work, negotiations, and lobbying, because Kosovo needed a seat at the decision-making table,” Hoxhaj stated.
He emphasized that the 2014 membership was proof that Kosovo can function as an equal actor on the international stage.
“It was evidence that Kosovo could be recognized, heard, and treated as an equal partner,” he added.
Hoxhaj stressed that it is time for Kosovo’s diplomacy to return to the standards of that period.
“Kosovo has the capacity to join the Council of Europe and other organizations where it belongs. With vision and clear leadership, these successes can become a reality,” he said.
