14 years have passed since the International Court of Justice ruled in favor of Kosovo’s independence.

On July 22, 2010, the ICJ announced the advisory decision, according to which the declaration of independence of Kosovo did not violate international law.

With 10 votes in favor and four against, the members of this court had decided in favor of Kosovo, thus rejecting Serbia’s request for violation of international law.

The decision was read by the President of the International Court of Justice at the time, Hiasashio Ovada.

Kosovo declared its independence on February 17, 2008.
