16 Arrested in Police Operation Across Kosovo

Kosovo Police arrested 16 individuals during an operation on Wednesday across multiple locations in the southern part of Mitrovica, north Mitrovica, Leposaviq, Vushtrri, and Skenderaj.

The suspects are accused of committing criminal offenses, including “coercion” and the “unauthorized import, export, supply, transportation, production, exchange, brokering, or sale of weapons or explosives”.

The operation follows several months of investigation. The police reported having searched 21 locations in the areas of south Mitrovica, north Mitrovica, Vushtrri, Skenderaj, and Leposaviq.

Material evidence seized during the operation included 9 firearms, 200 cartridges, various ammunition, 15 mobile phones, 2 sets of handcuffs, a knife, weapon barrels, gun parts, and 1 DVR.

After questioning, 13 individuals have been placed under 48-hour detention, as per the decision of the prosecutor.
