A total of 1,640 packages containing ballots from the postal voting process in Austria have arrived this afternoon at the Central Election Commission (CEC).
The news was confirmed by the CEC spokesperson, Valmir Elezi.
“I can confirm that this afternoon, 1,640 packages of ballots, which are part of the postal voting process from Austria, have been delivered to the Central Election Commission’s postal boxes outside Kosovo,” he said.
Elezi explained that the packages would undergo an evaluation process, which includes verifying if the ballots belong to registered voters and if all other necessary procedures have been followed. The counting of these ballots will take place at a later stage at the ‘Counting and Results Center,’ after election day.
“The evaluation process of the postal deliveries will also be monitored by accredited observers from the CEC, who will be notified in due time,” emphasized Elezi.
Currently, the postal voting period is ongoing, which is only valid for citizens who, during registration as overseas voters, have been specifically designated to vote via mail by sending the ballot to one of the CEC’s postal boxes outside Kosovo or by mailing it to the CEC postal box in Kosovo. This voting period began on January 9 and will end on February 8, 2025.
