Today, 21 years ago, on March 17, 2004, riots erupted in Kosovo, which have remained known as the “March Riots.”

The events that followed the drowning of two Albanian children in the Ibar River, in the north of Mitrovica, deeply shocked the country and left a lasting mark.

The children who survived the incident, in their testimonies from that night, explained that they had been chased by Serbs, and while fleeing, two children lost their lives in the river.

During these riots, 19 people lost their lives, 12 of whom were Albanians.
