The constitutive session of the Assembly has still not been concluded, even after the 23rd continuation, which was held on Thursday.

While the parties have maintained their old positions, Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi, in an interview for Deutsche Welle published on Thursday, stated that Vetëvendosje no longer needs any partners.

“Now the Assembly is composed of 120 deputies and must be constituted by all 120 deputies. There is no need for partners. Everyone has their share of responsibility,” he emphasized.

Bislimi claimed that “Kosovo is not experiencing a governmental crisis, but rather obstacles in electing the Assembly’s presiding officials.”

In Thursday’s continuation of the constitutive session, for the 15th time, the acting chair, Vetëvendosje MP Avni Dehari, proposed the formation of a commission to conduct a secret ballot for the election of the Assembly Speaker.

However, as in previous sessions, PDK, LDK, AAK, and the Serbian List did not nominate members for the commission, nor did they participate in the vote for members proposed by other political entities.

Representatives of parties that were in opposition in the previous mandate accused Vetëvendosje of lacking interest in resolving the political deadlock, despite being the leading party.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Social Democratic Initiative (Nisma), Fatmir Limaj, who has expressed willingness to cooperate with any bloc that secures a majority, stated that the Assembly can only be constituted through a political agreement.

In response to the ongoing blockade in the Assembly’s constitution, AAK has submitted the issue to the Constitutional Court, which has been reviewing the request since mid-May.
