Twenty-five years ago, in the village of Krushë e Madhe in Rahovec and the surrounding villages, Serbia committed a horrendous massacre against the civilian population of this area, killing 241 Albanian civilians. This genocidal crime by Serbia occurred just a day after the commencement of NATO’s bombing campaign on Serbian military targets.
A quarter-century later, Russia has called for an extraordinary session of the UN Security Council today, attempting to draw an absurd and unacceptable parallel between NATO’s intervention in Kosovo, which halted Serbia’s genocidal campaign, and its own aggressive war for the annexation of Ukrainian territory.
The martyrs of Krushë e Madhe, Krushë e Vogël, and other massacres by the genocidal Serbian state in Kosovo, along with the indescribable sacrifice of all Kosovo’s citizens, are the foundation of our freedom and statehood.
We will never cease to remember and honor all those who gave their lives for the freedom of Kosovo. Their sacrifice is our sublime obligation to build and strengthen the Republic of Kosovo as a state of its citizens.
