The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, at the official ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of the Kosovo Police, extended her congratulations to everyone on what she called a special day.

She stated that over this quarter century, the Kosovo Police continues to be one of the most trusted and respected institutions in the country.

“Congratulations to everyone on the 25th anniversary of the Kosovo Police. September 6 marks an extremely important moment in the establishment of our Police. Today we are here to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Police, a day that is not just a celebration of an institution but also an honor to the dedication and sacrifice of the men and women who have served and continue to serve as guardians of law and order. Throughout this quarter century, the Kosovo Police remains one of the most trusted and respected institutions in our country. The police forces have been at the forefront of protecting our citizens, ensuring that the streets, homes, and all citizens in every corner of Kosovo are safe,” Osmani said.

During her speech, the head of state remembered the hero Afrim Bunjaku, who was killed last year during the attack in Banjska.

“We cannot speak of the Police without honoring the heroes who gave their lives in the line of duty. The most recent is Afrim Bunjaku, whose bravery and sacrifice continue to inspire us all. Afrim, along with many others, made the ultimate sacrifice to defend our homeland and to ensure a peaceful environment for all citizens. On this anniversary, I express my gratitude to every member of the Police who, above all, has placed the interests of the state and its citizens first,” said the president.

Osmani also strongly thanked Kosovo’s allies.

“For 25 years, from the very first day until today, we have had our allies by our side. Therefore, I thank them once again on behalf of Kosovo, not only for their expertise and training, for the equipment and armament, but for all their unparalleled support—above all, for their trust in the Kosovo Police and for everything else,” Osmani said.

In conclusion, she also thanked the women of the Kosovo Police for their professional service and, above all, for the example they set for every girl aspiring to join the mission of keeping Kosovo safe.
