Today marks the 26th anniversary of the tragic Burim massacre, which took place in Malishevë, where 42 Albanian civilians were killed and massacred by Serbian forces. This remains the most horrific event in Malishevë during the Kosovo War, yet, to this day, no one has been convicted for the atrocity.

On March 31, 1999, in the area known as Vrella e Mëhillit in Burim, 42 civilians, most of whom were from the villages of Dragobil and Astrazup, as well as three people from Suhareka who had sought refuge there, were murdered and massacred. On the same day, other civilians were killed and massacred in nearby villages.
