Today marks 26 years since the horrific crime against the Kastrati family in Peja, where five members of the family — Sokol (Çelë) Kastrati, Xhafer (Çelë) Kastrati, Valdet (Sokol) Kastrati, Adrian (Xhafer) Kastrati, and Alban (Xhafer) Kastrati — along with their neighbor Hasan (Emrush) Muratagiqi, were brutally murdered by Serbian forces.
Representatives of institutions, along with family members and friends of the Kastrati family, gathered today to pay tribute at the city cemetery in Peja.
Among those present at the commemoration were the acting Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, as well as representatives of political parties in the country.
Minister Haxhiu stated, “26 years later, the wound has not healed. Justice is still absent, but our memory does not fade. Their remembrance is a call for justice.”
On the occasion of the 26th anniversary of this horrific crime, the contribution of the Kastrati family to the liberation of the country was honored and remembered.
