28 Political Entities with 1,280 Candidates Apply for Certification to Participate in Elections

The spokesperson for the Central Election Commission (CEC), Valmir Elezi, announced that the application period for political entities seeking certification and submitting candidate lists for the upcoming parliamentary elections of the Republic of Kosovo, scheduled for February 9, 2025, has concluded.

Elezi stated that during this period (September 1 – December 11, 2024, 23:59), 28 political entities applied. These include: 20 political parties; 5 coalitions; 2 civic initiatives; and 1 independent candidate.

The total number of candidates for the position of Member of Parliament representing these political entities is 1,280.

Political Parties:

  1. VETËVENDOSJE Movement! (LVV) – 110 candidates
  2. Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) – 110 candidates
  3. Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) – 110 candidates
  4. Srpska Lista – 48 candidates
  5. Srpski Narodni Pokret – 12 candidates
  6. Fjala – 22 candidates
  7. Egyptian Liberal Party (PLE) – 60 candidates
  8. New Democratic Party (NDS) – 46 candidates
  9. New Democratic Initiative of Kosovo (IRDK) – 41 candidates
  10. Social Democratic Union (SDU) – 40 candidates
  11. Kosovo Democratic Turkish Party (KDTP) – 25 candidates
  12. Innovative Turkish Movement Party (YTHP) – 25 candidates
  13. Jedinstvena Goranka Party (JGP) – 29 candidates
  14. Party of Ashkali Integration (PAI) – 35 candidates
  15. Serb Democratic Party (SD) – 13 candidates
  16. Kosovo Serbian Party (PKS) – 9 candidates
  17. Za Slobodu Pravdu i Opstanak (SPO) – 12 candidates
  18. Albanian National Democratic Party (PBKDSH) – 95 candidates
  19. United Roma Party of Kosovo (PREBK) – 56 candidates
  20. Kosovo Adalet Turkish Party (KATP) – 1 candidate

Coalitions:

  1. Naša Bošnjačka Koalicija – 28 candidates
  2. AAK – Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Nisma – Social Democratic Initiative, Conservative List, Intellectual Forum – E – 30 – 110 candidates
  3. Coalition for Families – 72 candidates
  4. PDAK – LPB – 100 candidates
  5. Vakat Coalition – 48 candidates

Civic Initiatives:

  1. Narodna Pravda – 10 candidates
  2. Opre Roma Kosovo – 12 candidates

Independent Candidate:

  1. Fatmir Bytyqi

All applications will be reviewed by the Office for Political Party Registration and Certification, which will submit the corresponding recommendations to the CEC.

In order to implement Article 30 of Law No. 08/L-228 on General Elections, the Central Election Commission will request the relevant authorities to conduct the necessary verifications regarding the eligibility and suitability of the candidates for certification to participate in the elections.
