KFOR will begin operational readiness exercises in Kosovo today, continuing until the end of October. NATO mission officials report that these exercises will be conducted by reserve units.

According to them, a contingent of over 300 troops from the Royal Yorkshire Regiment of the United Kingdom will be temporarily deployed in Kosovo to carry out a series of training activities alongside other KFOR forces.

The purpose of this exercise is to test existing procedures for the rapid deployment of additional troops and their integration with the KFOR mission.

The training supports KFOR’s readiness to respond to relevant security developments, ensuring the continuous and effective implementation of our UN mandate based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 from 1999, contributing to a safe and secure environment for all people and communities living in Kosovo and ensuring freedom of movement at all times and in an impartial manner.

After the military exercises are completed, this contingent will return to the United Kingdom.

KFOR will take all necessary measures to mitigate the effects on road traffic that may arise due to the movement of military personnel and vehicles in the lead-up to and during this exercise.
