The 42nd attempt to constitute the Assembly of Kosovo, originally scheduled for Saturday at 11:00 AM, was abruptly postponed following a bomb threat, RKS News reports. Authorities later confirmed the alarm was false, but the incident has sparked serious security concerns.
The Chief Prosecutor of Pristina’s Basic Prosecution, Zejnullah Gashi, said the threat came via an anonymous phone call in English, from a male voice with an accent suspected to originate from an “unfriendly state.”
“The call came from a male voice, in English, and we believe the accent is from a non-friendly country. Investigations are ongoing to determine the origin and identity of the caller,” Gashi stated.
Despite the threat being declared a hoax, some MPs raised concerns over the decision to resume the session at 8:00 PM the same evening.
Blerta Deliu-Kodra of the PDK called it “strange” to announce the continuation without a full security sweep by the police.
Meanwhile, Shqipe Mehmeti-Selemi of Vetëvendosje (VV) said the threat shouldn’t be seen in isolation, linking it to Serbia’s hybrid tactics and continuous destabilization efforts against Kosovo.
Kosovo Police and the Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that investigations are still ongoing to fully uncover the case.
