At least five people have died as a result of the winter storm that has hit the United States.

The storm has caused widespread school closures, travel chaos, and power outages, according to BBC, as reported by Gazeta Sinjali.

A state of emergency has been declared in seven states so far.

More than 2,300 flights have been canceled, with nearly 9,000 reported delays due to the extreme weather.

Around 190,000 people are without electricity in the affected states.
