Ukrainian officials reported on Saturday that Russian rockets killed three people, including a child, in the city of Dnipro, while a teenager and another person were killed in Kyiv and the surrounding area.
The overnight attacks in Dnipro injured another 19 people and damaged multiple buildings, according to Sergiy Lysak, governor of the central Dnipropetrovsk region.
A two-story apartment building was destroyed, he stated.
Images shared by Lysak show emergency workers sifting through piles of rubble. Another image appears to show a hospital room with windows blown out from the blast.
“Three people were killed in Dnipro, including a child. Nineteen were injured, four of them children. Eight are hospitalized,” Lysak said.
Other attacks in the capital Kyiv and nearby areas resulted in two fatalities, including a teenage girl killed by a drone strike, local authorities reported.
Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv, have faced deadly drone and rocket attacks since the beginning of Russia’s invasion.
Kyiv has requested allied countries to supply new air defense systems as winter approaches, which is expected to be harsh, and Moscow has intensified attacks on energy infrastructure.
