5 Pakistani Soldiers and 25 Militants Killed Near Afghan Border

At least five Pakistani soldiers and 25 militants were killed in clashes in the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province near the Afghan border, the Pakistani armed forces reported on Sunday.

According to the statement, on Friday and Saturday, two large militant groups in North Waziristan and Kurram districts near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border were engaged and confronted by security forces.

  • In North Waziristan, 15 militants, including four suicide bombers, were killed.
  • In Kurram, 10 militants were killed while attempting to cross the border.
  • Five Pakistani soldiers also lost their lives during the firefights.

Authorities confiscated a large number of weapons, ammunition, and explosives from the deceased militants, according to Anadolu News Agency.
