The Central Election Commission of Kosovo (CEC) has announced significant changes to the preliminary voter list for the upcoming local elections scheduled for October 12, 2025, compared to the parliamentary elections held on February 9 of this year.
During a meeting held on Friday, the CEC reported that the current list includes 2,067,998 registered voters, which is 7,870 fewer than in the last parliamentary elections. This decrease results from updates made to the Civil Registry.
According to official data, 41,410 individuals were removed from the voter list. These include deceased persons and those categorized as unverified. As part of the data-cleaning process, 471 individuals over the age of 100 were also removed.
On the other hand, 33,540 citizens will be voting for the first time in the local elections. Among them, 26,000 are young people who turned 18 after February 9, while 6,886 are individuals who were newly registered in the Civil Registry or who have regained Kosovo citizenship.
For the election process, 945 polling centers have been designated across 38 municipalities, of which 907 will serve for regular voting and 38 for conditional voting.
The CEC emphasized that the process of finalizing the official voter list is ongoing, and urged citizens to verify their information to ensure they have the right to vote on election day.
