The Prime Minister of Greenland asked US President Donald Trump to speak directly with him rather than making “random outbursts on social media”, after Trump announced he was sending a US hospital ship to “take care” of people on the island, according to BBC, reported by Gazeta Express.
Trump wrote on Truth Social that he would send a ship loaded with medical supplies, claiming that “many people” on the island are sick and “not being cared for.”
Greenland’s Jens-Frederik Nielsen responded, saying “it will be an unthankful gesture from our side”, and reminded that Greenland provides free healthcare to all its citizens.
Trump has long coveted the large Arctic island, though he admitted in January that he would not take it by force, after previously refusing to rule out such a possibility.
