The terrorist attack in Banja on September 24, where the hero Afrim Bunjaku was killed, could be repeated, as there are unresolved contexts between Kosovo and Serbia.

This is stated by the deputy and member of the Security Commission from the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Anton Quni, emphasizing that in the current situation between these two states, there is always a risk of ethnic tensions and escalation.

Quni emphasizes that the possibility of the Banja case being repeated is not excluded.

He says that Serbia, in direct cooperation with Moscow, in various forms and methods, could repeat similar cases to create political disadvantages at the negotiating table.

Quni: Interventions like Banja cannot be ruled out

“As long as there are unresolved contexts between Kosovo and Serbia, there is always a potential risk that, in various forms and methods, to create political disadvantages at the negotiating table, by Serbian authorities, in cooperation with Moscow directly, situations could be created that could then create ethnic tensions and escalation. Starting from the most manageable situations to open conflicts… Interventions cannot be ruled out as was the case in Banja on September 24, when with the intervention of groups up to formations of a larger paramilitary terrorist nature, these pieces of information supposedly as an expression of the will of a part of the citizens of the Serbian community and supposedly not in coordination with state authorities undertake various actions,” says Quni.

Additionally, during the interview, Quni also talks about mandatory military service, saying that they do not see it as the best solution, mentioning the high cost as well.

According to him, after reviewing security strategy and following the trends of Western countries, it has been concluded that the youth of Kosovo should have some basic skills in case of an extraordinary situation.

Quni: We do not think that mandatory military service is the best solution

“We, as the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), have already addressed this issue. We have taken into account many criteria, norms, factors, possibilities, and others, always following the trends in Western states, which are now reviewing security strategies and are looking for different ways in which citizens should serve their homeland defense. Taking all this into consideration, we believe that our youth should have some basic skills in case of an extraordinary situation. With the knowledge they acquire during general education, they should be able to use them in extraordinary situations. We do not think that mandatory military service is the best solution, considering that it has a high cost,” says Quni.

The LDK deputy, Anton Quni, expressed readiness for new elections.

Quni: We are ready to participate in elections

“We are prepared for any situation. Our experience, expertise, and preparations are at such a level that whatever situation arises in regular elections or extraordinary elections, we will respond and be ready to participate in the elections,” emphasizes Quni.
