The Office for Kosovo within the Serbian Government has stated that the Kosovar institutions did not allow Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Porfirije, to enter Kosovo.
In the reaction issued by this office, it is stated that seven other bishops who were supposed to accompany Porfirije were also denied entry.
They were supposed to participate in the Assembly of the Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Peja.
“The Serbian Patriarch was supposed to cross today at 13:30 at Merdare.
But at the moment when he was near the crossing point from Kosovo, there was a prohibition saying that the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church cannot enter the territory of Kosovo, the prohibition came 13 minutes before the scheduled visit,” the statement said in the notification from the Office for Kosovo in the Government of Serbia.
