Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, met with the Swiss Ambassador, Jürg Sprecher, emphasizing that Switzerland remains one of Kosovo’s most valued partners. Kurti noted that bilateral relations, strengthened by the Kosovar diaspora, are grounded in shared values such as the rule of law, democratic governance, and sustainable development.

Expressing his commitment to deepening cooperation during his new term, Kurti thanked Ambassador Sprecher for Switzerland’s continued support through KFOR and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). Under SDC’s four-year program, Switzerland has pledged a total of €86 million to Kosovo, with an additional €64 million committed for 2026–2029.

Ambassador Sprecher congratulated Prime Minister Kurti on his new mandate and reaffirmed Switzerland’s commitment to working closely with Kosovo’s democratic institutions.

The meeting also addressed the role of the Kosovar diaspora in Switzerland as a bridge between the two countries and discussed the Free Trade Agreement with EFTA, signed in January 2025 in Davos, which is yet to be ratified by Kosovo’s Assembly. Switzerland is Kosovo’s second-largest source of foreign direct investment, while nearly one-fifth of total remittances come from the Kosovar diaspora in Switzerland.
