Following a government meeting, Prime Minister Albin Kurti addressed the process of electing Kosovo’s next president, stating that he will invite the leaders of opposition parties for consultations.
Kurti emphasized that for the presidential vote, 85 to 86 deputies need to be present to ensure a successful election.
“Until now, I did not have sufficient time to conduct internal consultations regarding the upcoming meetings. I will, of course, invite the opposition party leaders to discuss potential pathways so that we can secure at least 80 deputies. I want to stress again that it is not enough to have only 80 or 81 deputies present; we should aim for around 85, ideally between 84 and 86, to ensure the election of the president takes place properly. These meetings will also allow us to consider any proposals or requests that may arise,” Kurti said.
