The American ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Michael Murphy, said that the United States of America will not stand aside and allow Bosnia and Herzegovina to enter into a new conflict.
“We support the territorial integrity, sovereignty and multi-ethnic character of BiH, this is our interest and our aim is to protect it,” Murphy said on N1.
Asked if there will be new conflicts in BiH and if BiH will disintegrate, which the citizens fear, he answered:
“I’ll start by making an observation to say that I understand why people are concerned about the political climate in Bosnia and Herzegovina. They hear terrible rhetoric from politicians, especially Dodik and officials from RS, threats of secession”.
According to the American ambassador, the rhetoric that is really stubborn, the comments that “do not want to breathe the same air as Bosniaks”, which should concern everyone, worries the international community.
“My government commented on this in our intelligence assessment of how much Dodik represents a threat to BiH and its future. I understand why people are concerned when politicians inject such inflammatory rhetoric and hatred into the political system and the flesh and blood of BiH society.”
“We have used sanctions to hold individuals accountable for that behavior and will continue to do so. And we were clear, and it remains our policy, that we will not hold back when it comes to Dodik and any politician who is pushing the country towards conflict. This is not in the interest of the US and we will not allow it to happen.”
