The European Union has called on political parties and parliamentary candidates in Kosovo to promote respectful and inclusive political discourse ahead of the upcoming election campaign, urging them to refrain from sexist and misogynistic language or behavior toward women, including content shared on social media and online platforms.
The EU also stressed that women must be able to participate in political life freely, safely, and equally, both online and offline.
In its statement, the EU in Kosovo emphasized that gender equality, human dignity, and democracy are fundamental European values and essential elements of credible and inclusive elections.
The statement comes as the country prepares for the official start of the parliamentary election campaign, with the EU urging all political actors to contribute to a respectful democratic environment.
