Ramadan Nishori lived for around two decades under the heavy burden of a crime committed against him during the war in Kosovo in 1998. Fear of stigma, social judgment, and unspoken pain kept him silent for many years.

It was only in 2025 that he decided to speak publicly, becoming the first Albanian man from Kosovo to openly share that he was a victim of sexual violence during the war. His testimony was widely seen as an extraordinary act of courage in a society where this topic often remains taboo and heavily stigmatized.

Nishori’s confession did not remain just a personal account. It became a turning point that, according to reports and public reactions, encouraged other men to come forward with their own experiences and seek recognition and justice for what they endured during the war.
