The Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Austria have signed a new bilateral agreement allowing family members of diplomatic and consular staff to engage in gainful employment while serving in the host country.
The agreement was signed by Kosovo Deputy Foreign Minister Kreshnik Ahmeti and Nikolaus Marschik, Secretary General of the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs.
According to the official announcement, the agreement aims to improve conditions for diplomatic families from both countries by facilitating their integration and stay during foreign missions.
Following the signing, the two sides held a meeting focusing on strengthening bilateral cooperation, economic and institutional relations, as well as political and security developments in the Western Balkans and Europe.
Political consultations between the foreign ministries were also held, discussing ongoing agreements, preparations for a future Kosovo–Austria economic forum, and Kosovo’s progress on its European integration path.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to continued dialogue and deeper cooperation through new concrete initiatives.
