The Agency for the Management of Monuments and Memorial Complexes has requested a police investigation following damage to an auxiliary structure at the “Zahir Pajaziti Memorial Tower” complex in Podujevë.

In a statement, the Agency said that after receiving a report about the damage, it submitted a formal request on July 6, 2026, asking the Kosovo Police specifically the Regional Police Directorate in Prishtina and the Police Station in Podujevë to initiate an investigation.

According to the Agency, damaging or violating protected cultural, historical, and religious monuments constitutes a criminal offense under Kosovo’s Criminal Code.

The institution also announced that an emergency intervention project is currently being implemented at several memorial complexes, cemeteries of fallen fighters, and martyrs, including the Zahir Pajaziti Memorial Tower in Orllan.

The project aims to preserve and improve the condition of the memorial site, while authorities will work together to assess and repair the reported damage.

The Agency stated that it will inform the public about further developments after receiving the official report from law enforcement authorities and other competent institutions.
