The European Parliament has called on Serbia to normalize its relations with Kosovo, stressing that the country’s progress toward European Union membership depends on reforms in the rule of law and adherence to democratic standards.
“Serbia must demonstrate a genuine commitment to the values of the European Union. Progress toward EU membership is only possible through reforms in the rule of law and the strengthening of democratic standards. Serbia must normalize its relations with Kosovo. Free and fair elections are needed to resolve the political crisis,” the European Parliament wrote in a post on X.
In addition to the normalization of relations with Kosovo, the EU institution emphasized the need for reforms in the rule of law, stronger democratic standards, and the organization of free and fair elections as essential conditions for Serbia’s advancement in the European integration process.
