Vladan Sinđić, member of the Green-Left Front from Užice, told N1 that the morning after the incidents during and after the SNS rally in that city was calm, and that “the whole circus has left”.
The tense situation in Užice was after the guards who were securing the meeting of the Serbian Progressive Party in that city on Saturday, which was attended by the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, beat one person. It was tense even after the rally of that party.
When asked what the morning is like in Užice, Sinđić says — wonderful.
“The whole circus has left, we are the people of Užice in our town,” he says.
According to his words, “for several days there was a complete siege in Užice”.
“Trucks, planes, stages are being set up, sound systems are being set up, throughout the day there were a lot of ‘security’ members, who were running around the city and who were clashing, attacking the peaceful citizens of Užice, we can see that on the videos. There were police, everything, however, it all ended very quickly after that meeting, within an hour the city was empty, all the people who came to attend the meeting left our city, much faster than I expected the opportunity and all the equipment that was installed for three days was picked up,” he says.
When asked if he knows who the people who attacked the citizens are, he says that he roughly knows.
“I think the police know, and we also know, I wouldn’t want to name them now, but we know. Some are our fellow citizens, but a good part are not. And during yesterday, the people who were present were not our fellow citizens, two-thirds were brought from the side by buses, as it usually happens, on the main street, there are videos, dozens of buses brought those people and dropped them on the main street, they later returned those buses very quickly and left our city,” says Sinđić.
He recalled the situation from a few days ago, when the opposition in the Assembly of Užice proposed to form a committee to welcome President Aleksandar Vučić, and the government councilors rejected that proposal.
“Colleague Dragan Aleksić proposed to add to the agenda an item on the formation of some kind of committee to welcome the president, the President of the Assembly Danijela Vasiljević put it to a vote, the opposition councilors voted to form that committee, colleagues from the SNS were confused, they communicated with each other, in the end they voted against, while their coalition partners did not vote at all. As a councilor yesterday, I was not allowed to move freely in my city, I was not allowed access to the square itself, because there was a danger that someone will attack me, or that I will attack someone. That welcoming committee did not pass, we were not allowed to meet the president at all, to hear what he promised in Užice,” says Sinđić.
