The Islamic Community of Kosovo (BIK) has formally asked the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo to fully investigate the origins and authenticity of an alleged “Top Secret 2” document reportedly extracted from the phone of defendant Fatmir Sheholli.
Kosovo Grand Mufti Naim Tërnava said the request was addressed to State Prosecutor Blerim Isufaj and seeks clarification of how the document was obtained, verified and subsequently made public.
The request calls for a full investigation into the document’s origin, authenticity, content, method of acquisition and publication, as well as the circumstances surrounding its alleged extraction from Sheholli’s phone.
According to Tërnava, the document and claims circulating publicly portray the Islamic Community of Kosovo in a false and damaging manner, including allegations that BIK is under the influence or control of foreign security services and that mosques and madrasas are financed for destabilizing purposes.
“These are extremely serious and unacceptable allegations that seriously undermine the integrity, credibility and dignity of our institution, our imams, theologians and believers,” the request states.
BIK said it wants the Special Prosecution to take all necessary measures to establish the truth, eliminate doubts and clarify all circumstances surrounding the alleged document.
The Islamic Community specifically asked prosecutors to determine whether the document is authentic, establish its actual source and content, and clarify how it was obtained and published.
The request comes amid wider public scrutiny surrounding material allegedly recovered from Sheholli’s phone and claims concerning links between Kosovo institutions and foreign security structures.
BIK has stressed that its request is aimed at establishing the facts and determining whether the document and the allegations attributed to it are genuine.
