A few days ago, the Kosovo Police carried out an operation in the north, resulting in the confiscation of a large quantity of weaponry.

The seized weapons, showcased by the police, included long guns of various calibers, pistols, grenades, and more.

Deputy Director of Kosovo Police for the northern region, Veton Elshani, stated that through operative activities in cooperation with the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (AKI), they managed to identify several locations where the hidden weapons were stored by former members of the Civil Protection and members of the terrorist group Banjskë.

The first location was in northern Mitrovica, near the Three Skyscrapers, linked to the wanted individual, Marjan Radojević. The second location was on “Çeta e Minatorëve” street, also in northern Mitrovica, linked to the wanted subject Zharko Cvetković.

At the first location, police found three long AK-47 rifles, four magazines with 60 bullets, one clip with 11 bullets, a holster, and a military bag.

At the second location, they discovered a belt with 25 bullets for hunting rifles, 23 hunting rifle bullets, a TT pistol with a magazine containing eight bullets, three magazines with eight bullets each, two holsters, 28 bullets for long rifles, 10 clips with long rifle bullets (99 bullets), a box of 7×62 bullets, four weapon cleaners, and a box with suspicious materials.

At the third location, a long gun with a bayonet, a pistol with two magazines containing eight 7×62 bullets each, a black bag with cleaning equipment, two boxes with 50 7×62 bullets each, three holsters with eight bullets each, and a long hunting rifle with a bag were found.

This operation was widely welcomed and seen as evidence that the north is being cleared of Serbian weaponry.

Experts weighed in on the significance of this operation and the blow it dealt to Serbia.

Softa: Concern Over the Risk of an Armed Conflict with Civilian Bases and Serbian Paramilitary Groups

Security expert Fatjon Softa, in an interview with “Bota Sot,” emphasized that the discovered weapons in the north signal Serbia’s preparation for an armed revolt.

“Recall that some time ago, ‘GeoPost’ published a video raising suspicions that Serbs have smuggled weapons using an ambulance. According to the report, the weapons were smuggled by Milun ‘Lune’ Milenković, who was arrested by the Kosovo Police and was a leader of the ‘Civil Protection.’

Members of ‘Civilna Zastita,’ led by the arrested Lune in North Mitrovica, communicated on the road with the ambulance, which was carrying weapons (December 6, 2022), when the offices of the Central Election Commission in the city were attacked,” the video claimed.

“We also recall the statements of British MP Alicia Kearns, who claimed that the British government was informed by KFOR that weapons from Serbia are being smuggled into northern Kosovo, and according to her, they were stored in Serbian Orthodox churches,” he highlighted.

Furthermore, he noted that the latest operation demonstrates how serious Serbia’s investments in Kosovo are, which is a concerning signal.

“This latest operation, with another arsenal captured by the Kosovo Police, in cooperation with the AKI, shows the amount of investment and the serious concern over the risk of an armed conflict with civilian bases and Serbian paramilitary groups.

The strengthening of Kosovo’s state authority in this part of the territory is a positive step in striking at the bases and cells that Serbia has built over the years in the name of supporting its minorities in Kosovo and other regions,” concluded Fatjon Softa for “Bota Sot.”

Burjani: The Clearing of Serbian Weapons in the North Continues

Blerim Burjani

In a conversation with “Bota Sot,” Blerim Burjani praised the clearing of Serbian weapons from the north.

He emphasized that the police should continue their efforts to disarm the Serbs, as their plans are known to be against Kosovo.

“The clearing of Serbian weapons in the north continues, with more weapons being discovered, which have been accumulated or smuggled illegally from Serbia for many years.

The special police must continue their efforts to disarm the area, as it has been under Serbian control.

Moreover, they were preparing against Kosovo; the idea is clear: resistance and secession. But now, this has been stopped, and the next step for this government will be the opening of the bridge over the Ibar River, which may happen very soon. This mandate of Kurti will conclude with the opening of the bridge for circulation,” concluded Blerim Burjani for “Bota Sot.”
