Serbia is not worthy of being a member of the European Union, as most Serbs support Russia’s genocidal war in Ukraine. This is the assessment of Roman Sheremeta, Chairman of the American House in Ukraine.
Sheremeta, who is also a university professor, claims that Serbs, brainwashed by Russian propaganda, eagerly await Russia to “do its job” in Ukraine.
“Serbia is not worthy of being a member of the European Union. In the photo are Serbian fans at yesterday’s European Championship match. I usually try not to generalize, but the most unpleasant conversations I’ve had over the past two years, after the Russians, were with Serbs,” he wrote following the Serbia vs. England match.
He emphasizes that Serbs have a rule.
“I have had some good conversations with Serbs and have some Serbian friends, but unfortunately, they are exceptions to the rule. The rule is that most Serbs support Russia’s genocidal war against Ukraine. They blame NATO and Ukraine for the Russian invasion. They call Ukrainians Nazis and hope the Russians ‘will do their job quickly.’ Most of the people I have blocked on LinkedIn are actually from Serbia. I don’t know how their brains have been so washed by Russian propaganda, but certainly, Serbia should not be allowed to join the EU. Otherwise, these Russian puppets will be a European hindrance for years to come,” he concludes.
During the Serbia vs. England match, part of Euro 2024, flags, slogans, and chants with chauvinistic and racist messages against Kosovo were displayed. This was considered evidence of the installation of a chauvinistic spirit by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and his Greater Serbia politics.
