Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has responded in a video recorded from his office at the prime minister’s headquarters after protesters broke chairs he had placed outside as a gesture inviting them to dialogue.
Rama questioned whom he should engage in talks with if the protesters were unwilling to participate in dialogue.
“Resignation, down with the dictatorship, down with communism, we don’t want dialogue — so far, these are the ideas of the professors and intellectuals gathered down here,” Rama wrote in a post accompanying the video.
The chairs had been set up to encourage discussion between the government and protesters. Their destruction prompted Rama to challenge the protesters’ stated position on dialogue, according to Gazeta Express.
