The leader of the Catalan deputies, Miriam Nogueras, in an answer to the Express newspaper, spoke on the eve of the debate that is expected to take place today in the Parliament of Spain about the proposal of “Junts” that the Government of Spain recognize the independence of the Republic of Kosovo.

She said that today it will be discussed in Parliament starting at 17:00, until the vote will take place on Thursday, June 27.

Nogueras has said that they expect the support of the Galician, Basque and Catalan parties while emphasizing that Prime Minister Sanchez’s party has not given any signals that it will support the initiative

“The debate is today (Tuesday 25). The proposal will be voted on on Thursday the 27th. Mr. Sanchez’s Socialist Party has not expressed any intention to support the initiative,” Nogueras told Express.

The Catalan MP has said that the opposition to the recognition of Kosovo has left Spain weak in the eyes of the international community, and according to her, voting against the initiative is an incoherent act on the part of the Spanish government.

“They think that any recognition of Kosovo’s independence could be a precedent for a future recognition of an independent Catalan state by other countries. This is the real fear behind the attitude of the Spanish political parties”, said Nogueras
