The Government of Kosovo said that the European Union has all the reasons to remove the measures imposed on Kosovo, since, according to it, Kosovo has fulfilled all the requirements for de-escalation of the situation in the north of the country, the return of normality and the integration of the Serbs there. .
The spokesperson of the Government, Përparim Kryeziu told RTV21 that they hope that the readiness of the EU countries will soon return to action to remove these measures.
“We have welcomed the readiness of the European Union to remove the unjust measures against Kosovo. On April 22, with the end of the voting process for or against the removal of the mayors from office in the municipalities of North Mitrovica, Zveçan, Zubin Potok and Leposaviq, regardless of the result, the Republic of Kosovo has fulfilled its obligation to its citizens and the responsibility taken from the agreement in Bratislava with the European Union for the de-escalation of the situation in the north of the country. According to every parameter, de-escalation in the four municipalities in the north of the country has already taken place. We remind you that two of these four municipalities have female vice-presidents from non-Serb majority communities, with whom we as the Government have regular communication and cooperation. A large part of the directorates in these municipalities are headed by professionals from the Serbian community. The process of converting license plates to RKS has been successfully completed. Citizens have continued to be equipped with documents of the Republic of Kosovo. Over 2/3 of the total number of applications for the conversion of illegal driver’s licenses to those of the Republic of Kosovo were registered in the four municipalities in the north. As another proof of normality and integration. The European Union has every reason to withdraw the measures. We wish that their willingness will soon return to action to remove these measures”, said Kryeziu
On the other hand, the spokesperson of the EU, Peter Stano, in an answer to rtv21, said that discussions on whether or not to remove these measures are continuing.
The measures imposed by the EU on Kosovo included: the temporary suspension of the working groups for the Stabilization and Association Agreement, the non-invitation of Kosovo to high-level meetings and the suspension of bilateral visits.
Also, the programming of funds for Kosovo, which were planned to be delivered through the Investment Framework in the Western Balkans and IPA 2024 (Pre-Accession Instruments), was suspended.
