A court in Moscow issued an arrest warrant on August 26 for Aleksandra Frolova, a member of the late Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny’s team, who is currently living abroad.
Last week, the same court issued an arrest warrant for Nina Volokhonskaya, a producer living abroad with the ‘YouTube Navalny LIVE’ channel. In mid-August, Frolova and Volokhonskaya were added to Russia’s wanted list on suspicion of participating in activities of an extremist group.
In June 2021, Russian authorities declared the Anti-Corruption Foundation and Alexei Navalny’s headquarters as extremist organizations.
Following this, the network of regional headquarters was dissolved, and many of Navalny’s supporters left Russia under the threat of criminal prosecution.
Navalny died under suspicious circumstances in February 2024.
If arrested and convicted, both women face up to six years in prison.
