Vucic: Serbs will remain in Kosovo and Metohija despite the wishes of many to see them disappear
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated today from Republika Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina that Serbs from Kosovo will continue to live where they are, while accusing Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti of wanting them “to disappear.” Vučić appeared to refer to something that emerged from a meeting last night between Kurti and Sonja Biserko, founder of the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Serbia, Serbian politician Nenad Čanak, and professor and director of the Center for Humanitarian Dialogue, Mark Baskin. During the meeting, the Prime Minister’s Office reported that they informed Kurti that “there is talk that the official Belgrade is planning the relocation of Kosovo Serbs, especially those from the north, to Sandžak, where, it is said, houses and apartments are being built for them” and requested that he “attempt to prevent such a scenario.”
“Serbs from Kosovo will stay in Kosovo, despite the wishes of Albin Kurti, Nenad Čanak, Sonja Biserko, and many others who want the Serbs from Kosovo to disappear,” Vučić said, responding to journalists’ questions about this.
He described this as Kurti’s, Biserko’s, and Čanak’s “circus” and “nonsense.”
“I would never have imagined thinking such a thing,” he said.
