A Swiss citizen was arrested on Saturday in Belgrade after allegedly making the eagle symbol with his hands, often associated with Albanian identity. This incident highlights Serbia’s continued tendency to prosecute those who express Albanian symbols or identity in any form.
Serbia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister, Ivica Dačić, confirmed the arrest. According to reports by “N1,” the incident took place in “Nikola Pašić” square. Authorities are also searching for a second individual who is believed to have acted as a photographer.
The arrested individual, identified as B.C., is 32 years old, while another Swiss citizen, G.V., age 33, is wanted in connection to the incident.
“The investigation into this case is ongoing,” stated Dačić.
