Around 50 European leaders – including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and NATO chief Mark Rutte – gathered in Budapest on Thursday to discuss their transatlantic relations.
They hope to avoid the disagreements they had with elected U.S. President Donald Trump during his first term.
Among the leaders attending the Budapest summit are those from the Western Balkans, including Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, who thanked Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban for the warm welcome.
European leaders will also seek consensus for a unified and strong stance towards Russia during this one-day summit.
