Agim Ademi has reacted to the scandalous behavior of Romania as the host of Kosovo’s national football team.

While the Kosovars were unstoppable from the first minute, keeping the Romanians on the back foot, the latter, feeling embarrassed, started insulting our players.

Denis Alibec attacked Amir Rrahmani, who was unwavering in every duel, while Romanian hooligans attacked with chairs, stormed the field, and chanted: “Serbia, Serbia” and “Kosovo is Serbia.”

In response to these scandalous actions, the president of the Football Federation of Kosovo (FFK), Agim Ademi, stated that Kosovo would take legal action and appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Full post by the president of Kosovo’s football federation:

Dear players, fans, media, and the wider public,

On behalf of myself and the Executive Committee of the Football Federation of Kosovo, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for your unwavering support of our shared decision as players, technical staff, and the Federation to not continue the game after the racist and anti-Kosovo chants that occurred in Bucharest during the Romania-Kosovo match.

This decision was not easy, but it was the right one. Knowing what happened to us a year ago, we did not expect such an incident to happen again in Romania.

Now, regardless of the legal outcome of this match, it must be emphasized that we were emotionally hurt (especially the players) by the continuous provocation and contempt shown by Romanian fans in unison.

The climax was reached with an incident initiated by some opposing players, which created a clear sense of attack—not only against our team but against our state and nation.

In those difficult moments, our players responded with dignity, and we as a Federation stood by them to protect their emotions and dignity, as well as the dignity of our state.

This was a necessary act to preserve the integrity of Kosovo and to support any efforts for a fair and clean sport, as outlined in UEFA and FIFA’s principles.

We thank all the institutions and the public for their just and resolute support. We assure you that we will not stop and will continue to seek justice in accordance with the regulations for such politically motivated and malicious incidents that have no place in sports, all the way to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne.

Football should be a symbol of fair play and unity, especially in matches of such caliber.

We continue with pride and responsibility.
