The French Ambassador to Kosovo, Olivier Guerot, stated that Milan Radojičić and all those involved in the terrorist attack in Banjska should be brought to justice. He emphasized that KFOR and EULEX are working to ensure peace in the north, but added that security in the region remains fragile.
Guerot urged Kosovo’s institutions to refrain from unilateral and uncoordinated actions in the north to avoid exacerbating the situation.
The French diplomat also commented on the opening of the Ibar Bridge and the European Union’s Economic Growth Plan for the Western Balkans.
Regarding the terrorist attack in Banjska, Zvečcan, last year, Guerot reiterated that French President Emmanuel Macron had been very clear that the perpetrators of the attack, including Milan Radojicic, should face justice, and that France expects action from Serbia.
“President Macron has consistently emphasized the need for not only Milan Radojičić but all the perpetrators, or potential suspects, to be brought to justice. This is a very clear message that has been given at the highest level, and we certainly expect Serbia to follow through on this. I believe no one wants the situation in the north to deteriorate further,” Guerot said in an interview with KosovaPress.
The French ambassador acknowledged that security in the north remains fragile, but he praised the efforts of KFOR and EULEX to ensure peace and stability.
However, he warned that Kosovo’s unilateral and uncoordinated actions, such as the closure of Serbian parallel structures and the ban on the circulation of the dinar, are not helpful and could lead to further tensions.
On the subject of the opening of the Ibar Bridge, Guerot said that this issue should be discussed within the Brussels dialogue framework. He appreciated the Kosovo government’s coordination on this matter.
He also spoke positively about the EU’s Economic Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, stating that Kosovo stands to benefit significantly from it.
