Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, during his speech at the National Assembly on the Albanian language, declared that the language will withstand the challenges posed by this century, including social media’s impact.
According to Rama, the Albanian language will soon become an official language of the European Union.
“There is still hope that the Albanian language will survive the barbarism of this century, which broadly threatens languages in general and humanity’s roots as a whole. Soon, it will also be an official language in the EU, where, if not the oldest language of European nations, it will rank among the rarest and most unique,” Rama stated.
He also emphasized that the National Assembly on the Albanian language is a product of the 3rd Diaspora Summit held in Tirana last November, where the Albanian language was one of the main topics.
