Acting NATO Deputy Secretary General, Boris Ruge, recently addressed issues concerning Kosovo.
During remarks at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Ruge emphasized that the Western Balkans remain a priority for NATO.
The senior NATO official highlighted the challenging situation in Kosovo over the past year and a half, referencing attacks on KFOR troops and the incident in Banjska.
“Over the past year and a half, we have faced a difficult situation in Kosovo, including the attack on KFOR troops in May 2023, and the incident in northern Kosovo in Banjska in November 2023. We have invested significant time, effort, and resources to bring the situation under control,” Ruge stated.
“For example, we have added around 1,000 troops to KFOR to ensure we are prepared to respond to any arising situation. And, of course, we have urged both Belgrade and Pristina to de-escalate tensions.”
