The Special Prosecutor’s Office has filed an indictment against V.N., suspected of committing war crimes against the civilian population.
According to the indictment, the criminal acts took place during the period of 1998-1999 in the city of Suhareka.
V.N. is accused, in collaboration with other members of Serbian police and military forces, of violating international law by carrying out the killings of two victims, M.A. and SH.A., as well as injuring another individual, SH.S.
“Based on Articles 234, paragraph 2, and 303, paragraph 7 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CPC), the Special Prosecutor’s Office has proposed to the Court to conduct the trial in absentia, as the defendant V.N. is unavailable to the judicial authorities. The legal conditions under Article 234 of the CPC for filing an indictment in absentia have been met. This case has now been transferred to the Special Department of the Basic Court in Pristina for further proceedings.”
