The spokesperson for the Central Election Commission (CEC), Valmir Elezi, stated in a press conference that the preliminary results of today’s parliamentary elections in Kosovo will be announced “much sooner” compared to previous elections.
Initially, only the votes for political entities will be counted, and for this reason, the CEC expects to provide the preliminary results quickly.
“We hope that, considering that the counting of ballots at polling stations will only be done for the part of the ballot where citizens have chosen political entities, the process will be faster – because we will not be counting the part of the ballot where citizens have chosen candidates for parliament. We expect to have the preliminary results from the polling stations for political entities within a short time,” said Elezi.
Regarding the exact timing, he stated that he could not provide a specific answer.
“Of course, we will inform you, but you will also be able to see it on the CEC website as the data from the polling stations start to come in and gradually see their updates, as well as the votes for each competing political entity,” Elezi said.
He added that this will depend “on the progress of the vote counting at the polling stations and the uploading of these data by our officials who are present at these voting centers.”
