A serious rail accident occurred on the line connecting Hamburg with southern Germany.
A high-speed ICE train collided with a truck at a railway crossing near the outskirts of Hamburg.
One passenger sustained severe injuries and died shortly after the accident, according to a spokesperson from the Hamburg fire department.
The passenger was confirmed dead at the scene, but it has not yet been clarified whether the person was male or female.
According to the fire department, the remaining 269 passengers aboard the train, which was traveling from Hamburg to Munich, were unharmed.
