The Central Election Commission (CEC) has announced that on Wednesday, the process of counting votes for parliamentary candidates and verifying votes for political parties has begun in 14 additional municipalities.

From the Municipal Counting Center (MCC) in Pristina, CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi stated that these 14 municipalities have joined the counting and verification process that started on Tuesday in other centers, such as Pristina, Lipjan, Obiliq, and Partesh.

“On Wednesday, at 4:00 PM, the counting process is scheduled to begin in the Municipal Counting Centers in the following municipalities: Deçan, Gjakovë, Gllogoc, Gjilan, Fushë Kosovë, Kamenicë, South Mitrovica, Skenderaj, Shtërpcë, Viti, Ranillug, Kllokot, and North Mitrovica. Additionally, the counting process began at 1:00 PM in Han i Elezit,” Elezi announced.

He further explained that, in addition to counting the votes for candidates, there will also be verification of the votes for political parties based on the forms completed at the polling stations.

“At the Municipal Counting Centers, besides the counting of votes for parliamentary candidates, the verification of political party votes will also take place based on the forms filled out at the polling stations. This verification is provided for by the sub-legal acts approved by the CEC before the election date, and it will certainly address any doubts raised during the issues with publishing preliminary results for political parties,” said Elezi.

Elezi also stated that after the completion of voting at polling stations, as well as voting outside Kosovo at diplomatic missions and via mail, the institution’s entire focus will be on announcing the final results for political parties and parliamentary candidates.

“Until the final results are announced, the CEC must count the votes for parliamentary candidates and verify the votes for political parties based on the forms filled out at the polling stations, count the conditional votes, votes for persons with special needs, and votes from overseas voting. The CEC is fully committed to completing all these processes in the fastest possible time, while ensuring accuracy in recording the will of every voter. The CEC clarifies that the integrity of the vote has not been compromised, and despite delays caused by issues with the electronic platform, the final results will be accurate and based on the will of the citizens expressed through their votes,” Elezi said.
