During the ceremonial march of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) and the Kosovo Police for Kosovo’s 17th Independence anniversary, Prime Minister Albin Kurti reflected on the country’s long struggle for statehood and honored those who contributed to its creation.

“Kosovo has the longest history of efforts to establish its state,” Kurti stated, emphasizing the sacrifices made across generations to achieve independence.

In a rare acknowledgment, Kurti mentioned former President Hashim Thaçi, along with other key leaders of 2008, recognizing their role in the independence process:

“The Republic of Kosovo is the result of the supreme act of the youngest generation of elected representatives. Their names are inscribed alongside their signatures on the Declaration of Independence from February 17, 2008, signed by 109 MPs, as well as then-state leaders: President Fatmir Sejdiu, Speaker Jakup Krasniqi, and Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi.”

Kurti described Kosovo as the home of its people, including Albanians and all minority communities, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to unity and inclusivity.
