Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister, Besnik Bislimi, addressed the issue of the Central Election Commission’s website on the evening of February 9th, after the completion of the electoral process.
He described the incident as a threat to European security.
“I am very happy to be in Poland today to discuss with colleagues from European ministries about a very specific form of security threats to the continent at a very important moment. We had elections last week and we experienced this special form of security threat related to the attacks on the CEC website,” he said in his opening speech at the event.
The CEC faced issues with its servers on election day when only votes for political entities had been counted.
Some have speculated that the website may have been targeted by a cyberattack.
CEC Chairman, Kreshnik Radoniqi, stated that there is no additional information, as the case is now in the hands of the Kosovo Police and the State Prosecutor’s Office.
