US Secretary of State Marco Rubio appeared on Fox News yesterday, Ash Wednesday, with a cross on his forehead. The appearance coincides with the beginning of Lent for Christians, marking a significant moment in the Christian tradition.

Ash Wednesday is a day when priests sprinkle ashes on the foreheads of believers or make the sign of the cross with ashes, symbolizing repentance and readiness for a new life.

Marco Rubio’s parents emigrated from Cuba to the United States in 1956, two years before Fidel Castro came to power. They quickly joined the Mormon Church, but later left under the influence of their son and returned to Catholicism.

Rubio was confirmed and married in the Catholic Church but later became a member of a large evangelical church with his wife. In the following years, he said he began to miss the sacrament of Communion, so he returned to the Catholic Church.
